  1. Konzol seems to understand how our formal education has taken away our voices when speaking and writing. When people keep to being so formal and drop out the “I”, it leads to a lack of opinion and keeps the conversation less subjective.
  2. “I” completely agree with Konzol’s stance on using first person in formal writing. Although there does need to be a limitation on when and how it should be used, because it is easy be overdone in a paper without monitoring. During grade school we were pushed so far the opposite direction of using first person that we absolutely never used “I”, even when we were allowed to.
  3. When relating this to our timeline, I can see how times are slowly changing from traditional contemporary writing to a more realistic approach. Over the years, what is being read and written has changed to better interest students’ personal opinions and expressions.
  4. If I did recommend this article it would be to English teachers so that they better understand how droning and redundant third person essays can be. I have a few very specific teachers that I would love to recommend this article to.
